About us

The Virtual Red Arrows were founded in 2005 using Lock On Flaming Cliffs, the predecessor of Digital Combat Simulator (DCS), which we use to fly our display today. We performed our first Live Show over a decade ago in 2009 at the Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams. Our mission is to replicate the Red Arrows displays as closely as possible. With respect to their dedication and unrivaled skills, we spend months practicing to perform the show to the highest standard.

The team consists of 9 active pilots + support staff from different parts of the world who share the same passion for The Red Arrows and formation aerobatics. To help us replicate the display we use market leading equipment supplied by our sponsor Thrustmaster. This includes the famous HOTAS Warthog and the new TPR pendular rudder pedals. The team also use Virtual Reality headsets.

In 2018 we had the opportunity to work with our sponsor, Thrustmaster, at the Royal International Air Tattoo where we met RED 10 Adam Collins, supervisor and narrator of the RAFAT The Red Arrows. The Royal Air Force produced a video documenting the meeting. Read the article here.

In 2019 we were invited to visit and put on a display for The Red Arrows at their home base, RAF Scampton. Below is a video taken from the BBC news coverage of our visit.
